Jake Montgomery

Age: 21

Hometown: Scarborough, NSW.

Two words to best describe yourself? Individual & Determined.

Favourite race destination? San Sebastián, Spain.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Sacrifice the party life to train hard and travel the world.

What is your favourite motivational quote? If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

My go to pre-race meal is... PIZZA!

If you could participate in any sporting event in the world, what would it be? And, why? Definitely the Hawaiian Ironman, it has always been my dream to race there.

What is your most embarrassing moment in a race? First race in Europe, had led out of the water and within the first few hundred meters trying to get my feet in, I put my cycle shoe through my front wheel, snapped my forks in half and threw me over the handlebars.

I’m at my best when... I am confident that I know I have trained to the best I can.

I will keep doing triathlon until... my body says no more.

What is the most played item on your iPod? Sulfer, Slipknot.

Favourite sports team? Manchester United.

The page I google the most is... surf-forecast.com

Three people you would want to be stuck on an island with? It wouldn’t matter, I wouldn’t get stuck on an island. I’d find a way to get off or swim!

Why do you choose to be aligned with TITAN? I was lucky enough to be introduced to TITAN  after seeking sponsorship from XTERRA Wetsuits.  I was able to meet the team shortly after signing with them and I knew there was something special about this company. We got along straight away, we had so much in common and they were very inviting. They are heavily involved in the triathlon business but also share a passion for surfing, footy and many other things sport related. It’s not often you get to work so closely with a company and have a friendship like this with the guys from TITAN. TITAN is a fast growing company but I also see them as a team growing in numbers by the day, best example was when the team stayed and raced together recently at Geelong 70.3. It was a great weekend with everyone, meeting new people and having everyone there to cheer on and there for support. TITAN offers some of the best brands on the market and many of my personal favourites which I am lucky enough to be partnered with now. TITAN is the one stop shop for all triathlete's needs. They stock market leading brands from goggles to bikes, they also offer the complete package which enables athletes to start from scratch and pick what they need, also offering bike and run fit analysis. They really have the athletes interest as their number one priority.

Andrea Forrest

Age: 30

Hometown: The Blue Mountains and Penrith, NSW.

Two words to best describe yourself? Perfectionist and Relentless.

Favourite race destination? Sunshine Coast, QLD. It has great weather, a great vibe and atmosphere, and a nice course to race on as well. I have plenty of good memories from there too.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Focus on the process and the results will take care of themselves.

What is your favourite motivational quote? You will pass out before you die; so keep running.

My go to pre-race meal is... a banana and an energy bar.

If you could participate in any sporting event in the world, what would it be? And, why? The Olympics, because it brings together so many outstanding athletes who are each at the pinnacle of their sport. It would be amazing to live in the Athlete Village and to march into the Opening Ceremony alongside all the other athletes.

What is your most embarrassing moment in a race? I try not to be embarrassed by things that happen in races because I figure everyone is so focused on what they are doing that they probably didn't notice anyway. I do hate looking at race photos of myself and seeing the terrible faces I seem to pull when I am racing hard. Hopefully I don't look as bad on the day!

I’m at my best when… I feel I have prepared well for the race and can stand on the start line feeling confident and knowing I will be able to give 100% effort to the race.

I will keep doing triathlon until... it's time to start a family.

What is the most played song on your iPod? My ipod stays on shuffle mode but Chariots of Fire is a constant on there.

Favourite sports team? I don't follow any team sports. I love watching lower profile sports such as Gymnastics, Aerial Ski-ing and Mountain Biking.

The page I google the most is... The Bureau of Meteorology...always checking the weather so as to be prepared for the next day's training.

Three people you would want to be stuck on an island with? Why is it so much easier to answer: 3 people I wouldn't want to be stuck on an island with!

Why do you choose to be aligned with TITAN? I love the community that has developed and I love being part of the TITAN family. Triathlon is such an individual sport but TITAN provides the 'team' atmosphere that is missing in an individual sport. TITAN also provides great assistance to me as a Professional Athlete because they have access to so many different brand and products.

Todd Skipworth

Age: 31

Hometown: Perth, WA

Two words to best describe yourself? Passionate, Fun.

Favourite race destination? France

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Find something you are passionate about and it will never seem like work.

What is your favourite motivational quote? Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard.

My go to pre-race meal is... Eggs and avocado.

If you could participate in any sporting event in the world, what would it be? And, why? The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational. Because you have to be of a certain surfing ability (that I will never be of) just to get an invite and the event has stayed true to its roots and only runs if the conditions dictate that it should; one of the last events that hasn’t necessarily changed because of marketing and other influence.

What is your most embarrassing moment in a race? Probably falling off the side of a mountain on TV in France,

I’m at my best when… I’m relaxed but motivated.

I will keep doing triathlon until… I don’t enjoy racing, training, travelling and meeting everyone involved in it.

What is the most played item on your iPod? Pretty much whatever is coming through Spotify playlists now.

Favourite sports team? Too many to name.

The page I google the most is… www.thestudiohq.com.au

Three people you would want to be stuck on an island with? Emily, Bear Grylls, Tom Hanks.

Why do you choose to be aligned with TITAN? A truly great team who are passionate and really supportive all of the time. They stand behind their products and have the best gear in Triathlon. They also know how to have a tonne of fun wherever they are.

Levi Maxwell (XTERRA Wetsuits)

Age: 26

Hometown: Cranbourne, currently living in Geelong, Victoria.

Two words to best describe yourself? Tunnel vision or direct and determined.

Favourite race destination? I have so many more places to see but at this stage Geelong. How could it not be!

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? The mind can be your greatest tool or your biggest inhibitor. Triathlon specific would be to use chamois cream!

What is your favourite motivational quote? Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

My go to pre-race meal is... Oats with honey, cinnamon and a COFFEE!

If you could participate in any sporting event in the world, what would it be? And, why? My goal is to make it back to Hawaii and be competitive as a professional. It would be a dream come true if Ironman Distance Triathlon became an Olympic sport and I got to represent Australia but, I think that will remain a dream…but you never know!

What is your most embarrassing moment in a race? Nothing to bad (touch wood) but I have fallen over dismounting and running on the slippery carpet which is never a good feeling.

I’m at my best when… I need to be and things go smoothly as they can when your training for an Ironman. Oh, and bout 30 minutes after my morning coffee (don’t even bother before this), and when I am training (I am a grumpy person when I haven’t done my planned sessions!).

I will keep doing triathlon until... My body stops me or the fire in my belly goes out.

What is the most played item on your ipod? I actually don’t listen to it much and when I do its on shuffle but I do enjoy Foo Fighters or Gym Class Hero’s or the like.

Favourite sports team? I don’t really have one but enjoy watching any team or individual succeed or achieve their goals.

The page I google the most is...  I Google random stuff. If I think of something that I don’t know the answer to ill Google it. I don’t know how accurate the answers are though…

Three people you would want to be stuck on an island with? LOL. If I wanted to survive Bear Grylls, otherwise my girlfriend. I would love to meet Crowie or Sir Richard Branson. It's difficult to choose as there are so many great people in this world!

Why do you choose to be aligned with XTERRA Wetsuits? When I align myself with any brand I look at two key elements. 1: Is the product the best on the market? 2: Is the relationship with the people behind the brand going to be a good relationship? If they tick these boxes and are willing to develop a relationship with myself then I am in!

NATHAN SHEARER

Age: 27

Hometown: Melbourne, Australia

Two words to best describe yourself? Questionable, Haircut.

Favourite race destination? Taupo, New Zealand

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Focus on the process, not the prize

What is your favourite motivational quote? When an archer is shooting for nothing,
He has all his skill.
If he shoots for a brass buckle,
He is already nervous.
If he shoots for a prize of gold,
He goes blind, or sees two targets—He is out of his mind!
His skill has not changed,
But the prize divides him. He cares.
He thinks more of winning, than of shooting—
And the need to win drains him of his power and skill.
- Chuang Tzu

My go to pre-race meal is... Weet-Bix, 'cause you know, Aussie kids....

If you could participate in any sporting event in the world, what would it be? And, why? I wanted so badly to say something else but in all honesty it's Kona.  Performing on the world stage, in the pinnacle of our sport is why I'm in the sport in the first place.  A cliche´ answer but 100% the truth.

What is your most embarrassing moment in a race? Running off course in Kona this year.

I’m at my best when… I focus on the process

I will keep doing triathlon until... Australian Cricket gives me the call up

What is the most played item on your ipod? Blockbuster Night PT. 1, Run the Jewels

Favourite sports team? Collingwood FC

The page I google the most is...  Saucony/Nike/Adidas (sneakerhead)

Three people you would want to be stuck on an island with? Trump, Channel 9's commentary team, Bruce McAvaney (Planet Earth, you're welcome.)

Why do you choose to be aligned with TITAN?  They're wonderful people.  Totally committed and invested in me as an athlete but infinitely more importantly, in me as a person.  For me it's about aligning myself with like-minded and passionate people, and people that without triathlon, I would still have in my life.  TITAN fill a hole that team sports left and they do it in a way that team sports (particularly cricket) never could.  For that I am immensely grateful.

What is your most embarrassing moment in a race? My first Noosa Triathlon I was racing in the open field and lost bit of time in the swim and came with the leader of the female race and as we mounted our bikes I took her out and had a massive crash in front of everyone. Was not my finest moment.

I’m at my best when...  I have ticked all the boxes leading into a race. Confidence in knowing I have done the work.

Why do you choose to be aligned with TITAN? Titan is leading the way in the Triathlon Market in Australia. The company is innovative, productive and most of all it is a family for its athletes, staff and supporters. I was fortunately introduced to the Titan Family by another athlete and the way he spoke about Titan and what it stands for blew me away. Now I can call my self part of this great family.

Favourite race destination? This one's tough, so many good ones....... Maybe Wanaka, NZ. It has an incredible Lake with the Mountains and a laid back NZ South Island lifestyle.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Don't try to shoot the lights out in any one session. They are all as important as the next.

What is your favourite motivational quote? Nothing worth having comes easy.

My go to pre-race meal is... Spaghetti Bolognese.

If you could participate in any sporting event in the world, what would it be? And, why? Pipe Masters. I've always enjoyed going for a surf when I get time and how good would it be to have Pipeline with only a few blokes out.

What is your most embarrassing moment in a race? Probably crashing in the bike at our local race at Kurnell. It was early in the race and I saw the cones in a bad spot mid corner but was I slow to react and fit them and the pavement. Haha.

I’m at my best when… I have a healthy balance in my commitments, between work and training. I've found working part-time to be about the best balance between performance and financial stability at this point in time.
